iNetpublication Privacy Policy

At iNetpublication, we understand that your online privacy is very important. It's important to us, too. As a community of professional webmasters, we spend more time on the web than anyone. Because of this, we have developed a deep concern for the privacy rights of individuals surfing the web, and have created a privacy policy for this site that is honest, fair, and written in plain English.

Our Privacy Policy is Simple:

We will not distribute any personal information we obtain from you without your prior consent unless so ordered by the courts or other governing body.

That's all there is to it. We won't send you junk email (spam), we don't sell, rent, or otherwise distribute user lists to other companies, and we don't infect your computer with spyware. In short, we believe in the Golden Rule.

How We Collect Information

We collect information that your browser sends to us when you connect to our site. This information includes things such as your IP address, your operating system, and your browser version. It does not include any personal information about you unless you have deliberately modified your browser to do so*.

In some cases, we will collect information about you through the use of contact forms or emails. Again, we can only obtain what you explicitly provide to us, and this information is kept confidential as well.

How We Use Information We Collect

Information we obtain indirectly (sent by your browser, etc.) is used only for reporting and quality assurance purposes. Among other things, we use these records to help improve our site usability and obtain accurate visitation counts. This information is not resold or distributed in any way.

Information provided directly by users (e.g. forms or email) is used only for the stated purpose. For example, if you submit a review of a web hosting company, we use the information only to verify authenticity and to publish your review. Personal information published in these cases is limited to first name and last initial unless otherwise requested by you.

Affilliated and Suggested Websites

Throughout our site, you will find links to websites that are either affiliated with us, or are simply sites that we reccommend. Although we inspect every such site carefully to ensure quality, these sites are beyond our direct control. The dynamic nature of the web means that any page on any site can change at any time without our knowledge. As such, we cannot take responsibility for any damage that occurs from visiting any site we link to.

These sites are governed by their own privacy policies and terms of use, and we strongly encourage all users to review these policies before submitting information to ANY website. Remember, privacy on the web begins with you.

How We Use Cookies

Once considered evil by a fair number of web users, cookies are now becoming more accepted - as well they should be. A cookie is simply a small text file placed on your machine by a website you visit. Typically, this file will contain information you have provided either directly (such as preferences) or indirectly (such as your IP address). This information is used by the site that placed the cookie** to identify you as a returning user and provide a better browsing experience.

The cookie we place on your machine is used for precisely this purpose. Our cookie simply contains a GUID (Globally Unique ID number) that identifies you as a returning user. Again, we use this to obtain accurate visitation and reporting figures, not to identify you personally.

* Some browsers support this functionality, most notably Firefox. We strongly urge all users to be aware of what information is passed to websites in the browser identification field, and never modify this field to include personal info.

** A cookie can only be read by the website that placed it. This means that we can't access personal information that you submitted to XYZ.com via cookies, and vice versa.
